Want to keep a set amount after fees? Uses the category, tier, shipping and tax you picked above.
Whatnot charges two fees on every US sale: a commission of 8% of the item price for most categories (4% for coins, lower at higher sales tiers) and a 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing fee on the full order, including shipping and tax. On a $50 card with $5 shipping, that's $4.00 + $1.90 = $5.90, so you keep $44.10.

How the two Whatnot fees work
- Commission is charged on the item's sale price only. Shipping and tax the buyer pays are not included. Live sales use the show's category; marketplace listings use the product's category.
- Payment processing is 2.9% + $0.30 on the whole order the buyer pays — item, shipping and tax. A lower commission tier does not reduce it.
- High-value orders: in eligible categories (including trading cards, coins, sports singles, comics, toys, jewelry and watches) Whatnot currently charges commission only on the first $1,500 of an order. It's a limited-time promotion that Whatnot can change at any time.
Low-priced items get hit hardest by the fixed $0.30. On a $5 sale with $5 shipping, processing alone is $0.59 — almost 12% of the item price. Bundling cheap items into one order keeps more in your pocket.

Whatnot fees — quick answers
How much does Whatnot take from a sale?
For most US categories Whatnot takes an 8% commission on the item price plus a 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing fee on the full order. On a $100 item with $5 shipping that's $8.00 + $3.35 = $11.35, about 11% of the item price.
What is Whatnot's commission on coins?
Coins have a lower commission: 4% at the standard tier, dropping to 3.5% for the highest sales tier. The 2.9% + $0.30 processing fee still applies.
Does Whatnot charge fees on shipping?
Commission is not charged on shipping, but the 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing fee is charged on the full amount the buyer pays, including shipping and tax.
How do Whatnot seller tiers work?
Your commission tier is based on your total sales across all categories in a 28-day period. Higher sales unlock lower commission, and the rate is locked for that period. The processing fee stays the same at every tier.
Is this calculator official?
No. It uses Whatnot's published US rates as of October 2026. Promotions and custom rates for top sellers can change your actual fee, so check your seller statement for exact figures.
